FITNESS Excellent mountain fitness required for a strenuous walk.

TECHNICALI­TY There is some easy scrambling (not graded), but it is never technical or exposed. Confidence on steep, rocky ground is required however. TERRAIN Generally very good fell paths throughout, but there are several sections of rough, rocky, steep terrain, particular­ly at Dow Crag and Great Gable.

NAVIGATION Mostly following good fell paths, but good navigation required throughout, particular­ly in poor weather.
