EYSTRAHORN, SOUTHERN ICELAND

-

“The landscape in south-eastern Iceland was astonishing, with mountains jutting out of the earth next to the ocean. Swathes of land in the Krossasnesfjall mountain region attract not just globetrotters to see this glittering marvel, but blockbuster film crews too. Situated on the Hvalnes peninsula on the other side of Lónsvík bay, long sandy rifts enclose the inlet. Eystrahorn is one of the few gabbro formations on the island, dating back 8-11 million years. My personal favourite, and no wonder, photographers are attracted from every corner of the Earth to hail the 2480ft magnet.”
