SET-UP 1: A-FRAME
The simplest set-up provides cover for a bivvy or tent. You’ll need two sturdy supports (usually trees) more than your tarp’s width apart – 4m for a 3m tarp is about right.
■ Thread the ridgeline cord through the loops running down the middle of the tarp at home and wrap the cord around the rolled up tarp.
■ Tie one end of the ridgeline to a tree above where you want the apex.
Take into account that sag is likely. Secure the other end to the second tree.
■ Pitch out the corners with the guy lines at a 45° angle. Creases in the tarp mean pull tighter.
