Wessex Ridgeway

Whether you’re a new walker or a seasoned pro, you’ll be enchanted by the views from Dorset’s lofty whaleback ridge, while bagging the county’s highest point too.

-

Climbing Lewesdon Hill, the highest point in Dorset, means this walk is awash with wonderful views. Add to this the pretty village of Stoke Abbott and the finale of an Iron Age fort on Pilsdon Hill and you have an excellent outing in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With easy navigation and little in the way of anything approaching an arduous ascent, this is a walk that gives you time to saunter. And it probably doesn’t hurt that among those pretty villages are one or two rather nice pubs too. Well, just because it’s a relatively easy day doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a reward...
