Clapham to Ingleborough
1 SD745692 Go left out of Clapham car park, at the junction turn right into Church Avenue then immediately left across the stone footbridge. Go right along Station Road, turning left at the end to follow sign for the village hall. Turn right up Old Road until the first public footpath on the left.
2 SD741697 Follow the footpath named Laithbutts Lane due west to a minor road leading into Newby. Go left into the village and at the first footpath on the right follow the track past the chapel to a walled lane.
3 SD727701 Follow the walled footpath north-west onto open fields eventually entering the first walled lane leading to Cold Cotes.
4 SD716711 Go right along the road through Cold Cotes ascending to a junction. Turn right, along the road until you reach the first track on the left.
5 SD720714 Follow the track then go through a gate in a stone wall. Keep on the track as it works its way up Cock Flower Hill then across Ingleborough Common. Be careful not to enter any potholes in the area. Just after passing a cairn, you reach a wide footpath on Little Ingleborough.
6 SD742737 Go north along the track and up the short steep rocky section to ascend to the summit plateau of Ingleborough.
7 SD743746 Go left to reach the triangulation pillar on Ingleborough, then retrace your steps to the rocky ascent and take the Dales High Way going east to Fell Beck Head.
8 SD757742 At the wall at Fell Beck Head don’t go over the stile but turn south following the wall line across Brunt Riggs and then by Fell Beck to Gaping Gill.
9 SD751726 From Gaping Gill take the footpath south entering a narrow gorge with a wall on your right. Leave by a gate and follow the path through a wooded area, then drop down a short steep rocky section of limestone with crags towering above at Trow Gill. Follow the path to arrive at the ticket office and café for the Ingleborough Cave.
10 SD752708 Continue down Clapdale Drive until a gate bars the way and a footpath ascends a steep hill to the right. Take this path to Clapdale to turn left in between the buildings. Follow the path across open fields then enter a walled lane that returns to Clapham. Turn left at the road and re-trace your steps to the car park.
