RED SQUIRREL CAMPSITE
22 acres of wooded land set in beautiful Glen Coe, surrounded by the mountains of Argyll and only 14 miles from Fort William. A fantastic base for mountain hikes, munros or just relaxing family time surrounded by Scotland’s wildlife and scenery.
In winter and spring deer, foxes, wild ducks, woodpeckers, wander on the site. Fall and winter camping is available. We have two new bell tents (durable to withstand seasons) equipped with log burners. We are as close to wild camping as you can get but with hot showers! Campervans are welcome for overnight stays.
There are sensational mountain views everywhere plus the beautiful River Coe runs gently alongside the campsite which is a great spot to watch the sunset! Since 1914, the grounds that are a part of Red Squirrel Campsite have been used for camping.
For well over a century campers have been coming to visit the highlands to experience nature at its finest!
Red Squirrel campsite was founded by Hugh MacColl and has been thriving ever since. We offer a beautiful campsite, chill out vibe and sensational views. Climbers, canoeists, walkers, families and all those who love camping are very welcome.

WILDERNESS COTTAGES
Wilderness Cottages have a variety of self-catering properties that offer something different; such as a contemporary wooden house, a log house, a traditional croft, a converted barn or a cottage near a loch or the sea.
Our self-catering cottages provide excellent year-round holiday accommodation, and many have log fires for an instant romantic atmosphere, most have stunning views of mountains, forest, and lochs. This is what Scotland and Wilderness Cottages is all about! A variety of self-catering holiday properties are available to rent, which range in size from small and cosy cottages for 2, ideal for honeymoon couples and romantic holidays, to larger holiday cottages that sleep from six to ten.
If you are looking for a short break, some of our cottages offer weekend or midweek stays, which can also be useful if you wish to discover a variety of what Scotland has to offer. HILLHEAD SELF-CATERING CARAVANS
Excellent self-catering accommodation at the beautiful white and safe sandy beach of Achmelvich in North West Scotland. Hillhead Caravans is located in an area ideal for country lovers who are looking for peace and quiet and enjoy beautiful scenery, observing wildlife, walking, cycling, photography, sailing or relaxing with a good book.
The caravans are well equipped, warm, and comfortable; all heating and lighting included in the price. Achmelvich beach (3 miles north of Lochinver, 45mins drive north of Ullapool) is one of the west coast of Scotland’s beauty spots, with unique white shell sands and safe bathing from the gently sloping beach. The award winning beach is very clean and uncrowded, and the sandy bottom gives the sea a tropical colour. Hillhead caravans has been under the personal supervision of the Macleod family now looking forward to their 57th year and 58th season in 2022, with many regular visitors that return every year – childhood visitors later bringing their own children. One family celebrated their 50th consecutive year with us in 2017, and returning for their 55th in 2022, another family 49 years and many in the 10’s, 20’s and 30’s.
