Jamaica Inn to Dobwalls

-

DAY 2

SX183766 Starting 8 from Jamaica Inn, head out of the car park and follow the road opposite. The road will head south-east towards Colliford Reservoir, which will come into view as you travel closer. The road will start to become rougher, and as it turns to the south-west, continue onto the track in the direction of Dozmary Pool. Follow around the eastern shoreline of Dozmary Pool, following an established track around the perimeter.

SX194741 At the 9 edge of the pool, you will hit another farm track. Follow this track south back out onto fields and Moorland. The track will fade as it goes between two hedgerows with fields either side. This track then ends as the route opens back out onto open moorland. Ascend up the hill to the trig point on Brown Gelly.

Continue south from here and keep to the left of a small strip of woodland. Follow this until you pick up a worn track between two fields that then leads onto Draynes Common.

SX207712 Draynes 10 Common is the last of the rough moorland. Keep close to the boundary on your right and continue south. The footpath becomes more distinguished as the Common widens out more. Follow it all the way to a small cairn and out of the common. This turns onto a farm track that then continues south until it meets a road. Follow the road west, pass Draynes, and keep on this same road for approximately 1km (if you have time, it is worth diverting slightly east towards Golitha Falls for a great section of woodland and a series of small but scenic waterfalls).

SX209682 As the 11 road passes Lower Trenant, a footpath intersects the road. Take the footpath south towards the River Fowey and into Trengale Woods. There are a series of small falls along this section of river and the path follows the Fowey for just under 1km before leaving the woods and leading to a road. Follow the road south until you meet a crossroads by some buildings and a small coppice.

SX212665 At the 12 crossroads, go straight across, and then straight on again at the next cross roads that are almost immediately after. After 400m there is a signposted footpath that crosses some fields. Follow this worn footpath over the fields and towards a farm. The footpath passes through part of the farm and onto the farm track. Follow this west and out onto the main road. This then leads into the centre of Dobwalls, the finish point.
