Nose: Huge oak notes and deeply stewed plums first, then raisins and vanilla, almond frangipane and redcurrant jelly, before soft leather notes and smoked cherrywood.

Palate: Red cherries, rhubarb crumble and ripe, honeydew melon. The initial sweetness is balanced out by those gorgeous wood notes.

Finish: Deep stewed plums, tea-soaked prunes and rich fruit cake.

Comments: Rich, deeply flavoured and fullbodied, this is a rum to be enjoyed really appreciate the full glory of its aging and nuance. Stunning.

Peter

Nose: Heavy Rum fusel-y notes present, with dried fruits such as dates and raisins intertwined, working harmoniously. Quite inviting.

Palate: Markedly different. Soft, vanilla sweetness rush, with overripe plum fruit and ginger spice. Very little in the way of oak.

Finish: Short to medium finish. Fusel oils, and prickly spices. A little heat. Light in the finish.

Comments: From the exciting promise of the nose, the Rum slightly tails off. All the markers of a blend of heavy aguardiente and lighter Rums, but those heavy alcohols are in check.
