What we’re loving

The Travelux team are thrilled to see the world of travel retail opening up once again, but what has captured their interest?

Bethany Whymark,

It’s always so intriguing to see that creativity on offer in the world of travel retail, be that in the spirits themselves or the way in which they’re presented. With that in mind, I was particularly excited to see that the Patrón en Lalique: Serie 3 would be available in GTR, rolling out in London’s Heathrow Airport in September this year.

The liquid itself is an intricate blend of no fewer than 14 tequilas, aged for up to eight years in French and American oak. Maturing tequilas to such an age is a feat in itself, let alone then blending them into such a luxurious liquid, so this will certainly be one for agave spirit fans to look in on.

If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, then the handmade and individually numbered Lalique decanters that hold the expression certainly will be. I’ll be first in line!

Phoebe Calver,

Now the world is opening up again and travel seems to be happening at increasingly rapid rates, I’m really excited to see the number of brands that are creating enticing and innovative activations in airports around the world. One such activation that I’m particularly interested in seeing it that of Glenfiddich, as part of the celebration of the launch of the Perpetual Collection. The collection contains four whiskies that have been created using the solera vat process. After interviewing their global brand ambassador Struan Grant Ralph to find out more about the launch for this very magazine, I’m certainly intrigued.

The activation will first be live at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and Singapore’s Changi

Airport throughout October, then on to Miami’s International Airport from 8 December to early 2023. Booking flights for a long weekend in Amsterdam is looking increasingly likely!

Paul Beevis,

The ways of duty free certainly seem to be changing at lightning speed at the moment, and it’s great to see. I’m particularly intrigued by the news of Diageo’s global travel retail arm launching its new and most advanced e-commerce whisky store to date.

The partnership with Delhi Duty Free, housed on its website, has created the perfect hub for users to explore the Diageo portfolio ahead of their travel. For those that love to be very prepared ahead of their holidays, this is a bit of a game changer!
