Value for money has to be high on the priority list of any potential purchase of a new motorcycle, but what always outweighs the important price tag is how much you will use it. ‘Adventure’ is the new growing trend in motorcycling but these machines come with a huge price tag, although this is easily overruled by the fun factor of the open roads and the ease of use on the more ‘adventurous’ single-track roads and tracks that are found the world over. A trials motorcycle is used and abused generally for six hours on a Sunday, but does this represent good value for money? For the amount of fun you can have, I would always say yes, every time. Many of the current manufacturers are now introducing what we would term ‘Long Ride’ trials motorcycles, which have had small changes made to them such as a larger fuel tank capacity and a comfier seat, to allow them to be used more than just the once on a Sunday for competitions. A nice summer evening and you fancy an hour on your machine? Yes, you get the picture.
