It’s a well-known fact that many of today’s top mo­tor­cy­cle tri­als stars started in cy­cle tri­als, in­clud­ing the greats Toni Bou and Adam Raga. With the crowd tak­ing a small break be­tween the qual­i­fy­ing and the fi­nal the half-time en­ter­tain­ment was cour­tesy of the Cross­bow Cy­clo Tri­als Team from Spain. This in­cludes the two world cham­pi­ons Spa­niard Joan Tor­res and, back by pop­u­lar de­mand, the young Char­lie Rolls who brought the house down last time he was at Sh­effield as he put on a show to re­mem­ber. This year was no dif­fer­ent as both rid­ers showed an in­cred­i­ble amount of skill on the silent cy­cle tri­als bikes to tra­verse the man-made haz­ards. With no noise from the cy­cles it was good to hear the loud re­sponse from the crowd who wit­nessed the high skill lev­els from these two stars of the sport.

Joan Tor­res (ESP): The cy­cle dis­play is an ex­cel­lent way of demon­strat­ing the art of the sport of tri­als. Once you have mas­tered the tech­nique with­out an en­gine in the cy­cle you can move on, if you wish, to a mo­tor­cy­cle. Some choose not to and stay...
