SHOWTIME Supertrial Time
The three-round ‘Supertrial’ concept has certainly added some interest to the British trials scene during the summer months as three very experienced clubs gave the riders the opportunity to demonstrate that some of them are very much a ‘Class Act’. Using a mixture of man-made and natural hazards, and reverting to time limits for the riders in the hazards with a different style of observing, the action is certainly quick-fire and spectacular. Dan Peace was crowned the new 2017 ‘Supertrial’ Champion as the winner of the last two rounds, as James Dabill missed the first encounter at Scarborough. Is it now time to include this series as an add-on to the stand alone British Trials Championship? Many people think so, based on its attraction, to bring additional sponsorship and spectators to the sport.
