Full of en­thu­si­asm for the sport, Jonathan Richard­son (Sher­coGBR) won the 2009 se­ries by a con­vinc­ing margin with five wins.

Podium Ire­land 2009: Jonathan Richard­son (Sherco-GBR) would con­tinue in the world cham­pi­onship se­ries for a few years. Pere Bor­rel­las (Gas Gas-ESP) on the se­cond step would progress through the rel­e­vant classes be­fore mov­ing out of the world cham­pi­onships in 2014. In 2019 the se­ries is now ti­tled Trial125.

Both fa­ther, Ger­ald, and son Jonathan Richard­son have won the Scott Trial. Jonathan can be found in 2019 rid­ing in Ex­treme En­duro.
