Bou fan or not, a fan of Montesa or not, it must come onto ev­ery­one’s radar at some point. When our sis­ter pub­li­ca­tion in France en­tered this sa­cred place, the home of

HRC Barcelona, they were made very wel­come, shall we say ‘At Home’; the whole work­force were very trans­par­ent in all ar­eas, for which they were very grate­ful. The match­maker in this ex­cit­ing day and one we have to say a big thank you to is Michel Kauf­man of S3. He is an of­fi­cial sup­plier to the team, and the one who took us to this ex­cit­ing des­ti­na­tion in Spain.

SORRY: When Tri­alMagazine called in, only two ma­chines were be­ing worked on. One was that of Takahisa Fu­ji­nami and the team mem­ber Josep Bany­eres.

TI­TA­NIUM: The en­tire ex­haust sys­tem is made of ti­ta­nium. It takes a full day for two me­chan­ics to fully pre­pare a ma­chine be­fore a com­pe­ti­tion.

SUP­PORT: Quim Isart is one of the sup­port per­son­nel of Toni Bou and is em­ployed by Montesa in this po­si­tion, al­though he does not wear white like Jordi Riera, Bou’s me­chanic. Liv­ing and train­ing in An­dorra, Toni has three iden­ti­cal ma­chines and ‘Fuji’ has two.

PRO­HIB­ITED: The en­gine is the vi­tal or­gan that the staff in Barcelona can­not touch. Ev­ery­thing is de­vel­oped in Ja­pan and can­not be changed.

CLUTCH: The clutch hous­ing cover is dif­fer­ent from the stan­dard model. The whole block is mag­ne­sium, in­clud­ing the in­jec­tion body!
