DAN’S ON TRACK
It was going to take something unpredictable to stop Dan Thorpe (GASGAS) from moving toward the championship title in 2022. However, with four wins from six starts and an extra four points for the best lap scores, Dan has steadily opened a points advantage over Emma Bristow that had put him virtually out of reach with two rounds remaining.
On the opening lap, Dan and Brad Bullock (Beta) fought for the lead. Brad had the measure of Thorpe on the opening lap, with his score of seven compared to nine giving him an early lead. As expected, with the sections having a permanent line through them, the scores started to fall, and this is when Dan made his first push for victory. Mastering the many rocks and climbs, he lost just six marks as Bullock dropped to second with his score of nine, only two in total behind Thorpe as the scores stood at 15 and 16 marks lost. Jack Spencer had the best last-lap score of 9, but Thorpe remained strong to take the win. Emma Bristow watched her remote championship hopes possibly slip away, finishing in third position.
