THIRTY-NINE acres of Leicestershire countryside are home to this sportsman’s paradise, which caters for anglers and shooters just outside Loughborough. Anglers enjoy more than nine acres of water spread across four large, man-made lakes. Two lakes are dedicated to trout fishing, with the others used by coarse and carp anglers. The fly lakes have hosted a heat of the Greys Junior Bank National and are stocked with rainbows and brown trout generally averaging 1lb 8oz to 2lb, although some bigger fish around the 8lb mark also go in. Cat’s Whisker, Orange Blobs and Daddies are reported to be successful by anglers. A selection of flies can be purchased on-site and fly rods are available for hire. There is reasonable access for anglers with disabilities although slight inclines have to be negotiated and there are steps down to one of the lakes. A comfortable café is on site, open from 9am to 5pm, serving home-made food and drinks and non-anglers are also welcome. Toilets are available. The facility is available for corporate or charity functions and stag/hen parties. Individual visitors are also welcome to fish and shoot during their visit.
