Bobby Watson has found one use for Sharpie marker pens when tying flies: here are four more: Add stripes or other markings to liven up an unremarkable lure. Instead of stick-on eyes that only stick for so long, create your own, with a painted eye that’s finished off with a Sharpie ‘pupil’. For quick ribbing once you’ve built up the body of a fly with thread, colour a couple of inches of the thread with a pen and wrap it round. If you find yourself by the water with the right pattern but the wrong colour, use a Sharpie to lighten or darken it. Black, khaki and grey can be useful options.
