Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Where To Fish -

THREE lakes form Co. Antrim’s largest privately-run fishery and cater for a wide variety of angler. The main fly-fishing lake covers 20 acres and hosts a fleet of 14 boats and 1000m of accessible bank angling, targeting rainbow trout into double figures. The depth of the lake ranges from four feet to 18 feet. At the two-acre Discover Lake, meanwhile, family fishing fun is the aim. Kept for families only (one adult per two under-12s) this any-method lake provides the perfect introduction to fishing, with trout, perch and roach in residence. If you’re unfamiliar with knots, methods etc then you can pre-book an all-in, two-hour session with a guide, that includes the use of two rods, bait and up to two trout, for £30. The new Horsetail Retreat Carp & Tench Lake, while a members-only facility for bait anglers, can be used for occasional prebooked fly sessions. Banks and paths have been cleared at the fishery as a whole, to allow easy access to the lakes’ margins, and anglers with restricted mobility can be transported by staff to their choice of fishing stand. If you’re not fishing, then enjoy the comforts of home in the fishery’s newly modernised-tearoom, where complimentary tea, coffee and microwave facilities are available, along with a selection of fishing books and magazines. Refurbished ladies and gents toilets are located nearby.
