I hooked two tiger trout simultaneously

IT was my second visit to Langley Dam in Northumberland [featured in TF 498] with my brother, Phil, a fly-fishing beginner, who offered to row (only electric motors allowed). I hoped to catch a few trout myself, but also wanted him to catch, with the help of an indicator and short casting. We had a good day, with me catching and releasing nine trout, and Phil three, but the abiding memory was when I hooked two tiger trout simultaneously, both on Diawl Bachs and both over 2lb. I managed to net the first but had to hand-line my cast to net the second: quite the struggle when you have two tigers swimming in opposite directions! Even so, it was my first tiger, and the two beautifully-marked fish were safely returned to fight another day.
