WHAT IS THE SEASON?
Like most coarse fish, grayling spawn throughout spring, which means their closed season runs from March 15 to June 15. They are legitimate quarry from June 16 to March 14 the following year. Given their season, for years grayling were rarely mentioned in the same circles as trout and salmon. However, these days they seem to be enjoying a cult-like status amongst fly fishers, many of who prefer to target grayling. It’s worth noting that throughout Scotland grayling don’t have a designated close season and this is left up to the discretion of the landowner whether they implement a season or not!
