Vision travel tubes from £49.99
IF you regularly travel with more than one rod you’ve no doubt discovered that the multiple tubes can take up a lot of space and are unwieldy to carry around. The solution lies in a tube that can house several rods – and Vision’s travel tube does just this. It comprises of a large plastic tube measuring 10.5cm in diameter and with a nylon lining and a heavy-duty yellow cordura outer fabric. Dense foam pads on the inside of the lid and in the base of the tube afford the rods some extra cushioning. The tube has a double zip opening and when the two zips are pulled together they form a locking ring to which you can secure a small padlock to lock them down tight. It has a single webbing carry handle with a reinforced rubber grip and an adjustable and detachable shoulder strap with shoulder pad. There’s also a luggage ID pocket. I would always recommend storing the rods in their cloth bags, and if you top and tail the rods in the tube (so handle down on some, up on others) the tube will easily accommodate four, even five, rods this way. If you dispense with the cloth bags, the tube will take even more rods and although this is shown in the photograph (below), I wouldn’t recommend this way of storing them. The tube does afford really good protection but it’s not one of those super rigid tubes that you can stand on, it does have some limits.
The tube comes in four lengths:
82cm will take four-piece rods up to 10ft, £49.99 110cm three-piece rods up to 11ft, £54.99 140cm four-piece double handed rods up to 17ft, £59.99 160cm three-piece rods up to 15ft, £64.99
Many reservoir boat anglers take more than one rod out at a time, and this tube is a great storage solution, keeping all the rods together and well protected. Although the cordura fabric isn’t waterproof it can be treated with a waterproofing spray.
