In con­trast to the above and per­haps a con­tra­dic­tion, grayling can be ex­tremely fickle and flighty. Ad­mit­tedly they of­ten find safety in num­bers and will tol­er­ate our pres­ence. That said, grayling have an eye for spot­ting im­pos­tors, par­tic­u­larly im­i­ta­tions that drag, or don’t con­form with sur­round­ing flows. It’s best then to stay on top of your game by striv­ing for drag-free drifts at all times.
