PEAKED baseball caps may be all the rage with fly anglers, but they don’t cut the mustard when it comes to fishing in the cold. Nothing can beat the warmth of a woolly hat, especially one made from pure merino wool. This natural wool, used to make Vision’s Willa Subzero beanies, is not only incredibly warm, but it also wicks away moisture effectively. Even if the wool does become saturated it still retains extremely good thermal properties. The beanies are available in multi ((green/red/yellow) and black. They are really comfortable and provide good coverage over your ears. They also work well worn over a peaked cap to give you the best of both worlds: a visor to keep out the elements and shield your eyes from bouncing winter light, and the warmth of the beanie to keep you snug. These are hand knitted from ethically sourced merino wool – hence the price tag!
