Cast­ing for Re­cov­ery chair Jill Grieve passes

JILL Grieve, chair­man and driv­ing force be­hind the char­ity Cast­ing for Re­cov­ery UK & Ire­land, has died af­ter an ill­ness. Cast­ing for Re­cov­ery (www.cast­ing­for­recov­ takes women with breast can­cer on fish­ing re­treats, pro­vid­ing the op­por­tu­nity to meet new friends and have fun, as well as take ad­van­tage of med­i­cal ad­vice, ed­u­ca­tional ser­vices, coun­selling and re­lax­ation tech­niques. Grieve also launched the char­ity in Italy two years ago, as well as over­see­ing CfR’s amal­ga­ma­tion into The Coun­try­side Al­liance Foun­da­tion, which se­cured CfR’s fu­ture. Hav­ing joined the Al­liance as its press of­fi­cer in 1999, she was de­scribed by the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s chief ex­ec­u­tive, Tim Bon­ner, as “…the heart, soul and voice of the Al­liance over the 19 years she was with us. She was the con­nec­tion be­tween gen­er­a­tions of Al­liance staff and had a huge range of friends in the me­dia and ru­ral pol­i­tics.”
