Trout & Salmon (UK) - - KNOW HOW -

I wonder if any readers know the story behind the capture of this magnificent salmon (pictured)? Caught – probably by fly, if the tackle in the photo is what was used – by a justifiably proud H Ashworth Esq from The Deeps, River Lune, October 22, 1960. Weight: 39lb 3½oz. The photo is glued to the back of a mahogany board, to which is mounted a very detailed cast of the salmon, with the above details recorded for posterity. Were such salmon caught with any frequency on the Lune in that period? Any information regarding this fish (and other notable Lune salmon) and Mr Ashworth’s angling exploits would be most welcome. Any readers with information can contact me at tomdtwar[email protected] Tom Waring, Inverness
