Trout & Salmon (UK) - - FISHING REPORTS -

EDEN RODS experienced a very challenging 2018 with some extreme weather conditions. The early spring saw some extremely cold conditions and this was followed by a heatwave which lasted for many weeks. Salmon, trout and sea-trout were affected by the heat and proved difficult to catch. Many fish held back in the lower river pools but in the main were very difficult to tempt. Odd ones were caught and this was the pattern until late in the season when lower river rods had some good sport. This was not the case further up the river. Looking to the 2019 season, one thing is for certain, anglers will be out after the spring fish that run the Eden. They are a real prize to catch. Brown trout fishing opens on March 15 with fish likely to be out of condition for several weeks. The Cargo beat may have a few season vacancies for 2019 and the contacts are 07780 993444 or email [email protected]internet.com Ullswater’s trout fishing opens on March 15, with early spring sport in the shallower areas and often best close in to the banks. After last year’s testing conditions anglers will be hoping for a better year with more temperate conditions. The contact number for quality boats for loch-style trout fishing on Ullswater at St Patrick’s Landing at Glenridding is 01768 482393. – CUMBRIAN ROD.
