One Show’s Alex Jones teams up with genealogy and DNA experts to uncover the truth about unsolved family mysteries.
‘It’s about people who’ve spent years knowing that there’s a secret in their family, and it has had a huge effect on their lives,’ says Jones. ‘They’ve tried every avenue to get to the bottom of the story and find people, but have not succeeded – so often we are the last call.’
In this week’s opener, bride-to-be Kirsty, 24, is desperate to find her father David, who she hasn’t seen since she was two years old.
‘Kirsty had no idea what her father looked like, and it was about finding out what had gone wrong,’ says Jones.
LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
Also in this week’s episode, M People drummer Andrew Lovell (aka Shovell) is searching for answers after learning that the woman he thought was his adoptive mum was his real mother, and he’d been the result of an affair.
The stories don’t always have a happy ending but, says Jones, they are always emotional. ‘When you see them getting upset, you feel for them. Not everyone was successful, but there was always a sense of closure.’
