RICHARD GERE heads the cast of a dark thriller about a dys­func­tional fam­ily

RICHARD GERE IS look­ing pen­sive in this in­trigu­ing early shot from his en­tic­ing new BBC2 drama Mother-fa­ther-son, air­ing in 2019.

The eight-part se­ries, which is cur­rently be­ing filmed in Lon­don and Spain, sees the Hol­ly­wood star make his Bri­tish TV drama de­but as charm­ing and pow­er­ful Amer­i­can busi­ness­man Max, who runs a range of news­pa­pers and me­dia out­lets across the world, while Peaky Blin­ders ac­tress He­len Mccrory plays his es­tranged wife, Bri­tish heiress Kathryn.

How­ever, the fu­ture of Max’s lu­cra­tive busi­ness port­fo­lio comes un­der threat due to the de­struc­tive be­hav­iour of their 30-year-old son Caden, played by Billy Howle, who is in charge of Max’s UK news­pa­per.

Howard, along­side Danny Sa­pani as Bri­tain’s first Mus­lim Prime Min­is­ter. Sinéad Cu­sack, Paul Ready and Joseph Mawle co-star.

‘It’s been al­most 30 years since I worked in TV,’ says Gere. ‘I’m so pleased to be work­ing now with the BBC on this ex­tra­or­di­nary pro­ject with such tal­ented peo­ple and which res­onates so much to the time we live in.’
