Lisey’s Story
JULIANNE MOORE stars in a twisty supernatural thriller
OSCAR-WINNER JULIANNE MOORE is on compelling form in this early look at the thought-provoking new Apple TV+ drama Lisey’s
Story, airing from 4 June.
The tense eight-part thriller, adapted by acclaimed horror writer Stephen King from his own best-selling 2006 novel, stars Moore as Lisey Landon, whose husband, celebrated novelist Scott, played by Clive Owen, died two years previously.
But Lisey is left reeling when a series of disturbing events leads her to look back on her marriage and explore some uncomfortable truths that she had attempted to block out – and her discoveries draw her into danger as well as into a parallel world...
PASSION PROJECT
Executive produced by King, Moore and JJ Abrams, among others, the series also stars Joan Allen and Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lisey’s sisters Amanda and Darla; Dane Dehaan as Jim Dooley, an obsessive fan who wants Scott’s unpublished work to be released; Ron Cephas Jones as Professor Dashmiel, who is keen to take over a library of Scott’s work; and Sung Kang as Dan Beckman, a police officer keeping an eye on Lisey’s house.
‘Lisey’s Story means a lot to me. It’s the story I love best. This was a passion project. It’s about love and the creative impulse and it’s also got a kickass villain in it, which I liked a lot,’ says King. ‘I wanted to say something about long marriage and celebrity and the sides of lives that are public and the sides of lives that are private – and the door between those two worlds.’
