A morally complex, 1990s-set thriller, this is an unsettling tale of murder, obsession and how the past can haunt you. Denzel Washington stars as a small town sheriff who teams up with Rami Malek’s detective when all evidence points to Jared Leto’s loner as an elusive serial killer. This has all the ingredients for a first-rate twisted tale, but what really resonates is the acting on display, with Leto on especially mesmerising form.
