A NOVEL PURSUIT
The Pursuit of Love is the first in a series of novels about the charismatic but troubled radlett family, penned by nancy mitford and loosely based on her own upper-crust relations and friends who dominated high society in the early 20th century. the author was the oldest of the six mitford sisters, who became some of the most talked-about women of the day, thanks to their headlinegrabbing romances, which partly inspired nancy’s work. after a failed marriage, nancy fell passionately in love with french politician gaston palewski (who is transformed into linda’s lover, fabrice, in the pursuit of love), while her sister diana’s marriage to fascist leader oswald mosley and their sibling unity’s devotion to adolf hitler caused huge controversy.
