As World War Two rages on, the battle for control of the Atlantic between the British Royal Navy and German submarines is as deadly as ever as Das Boot returns for a10-part third series.

The young U-boat crew under the command of Robert Ehrenberg (Franz Dinda) is in dangerous waters, as the Royal Navy has started to get to grips with the relentless German attacks by using ever more sophisticated sonar technology and depth charges.

Despite this new peril, the German sub is sent on a risky mission to the southern hemisphere where Ehrenberg makes a shocking discovery about his family that leaves him reeling.

On his tail, meanwhile, is a new British naval commander,

Jack Swinburne, played by

Rome’s Ray Stevenson.

Formerly a captain in the merchant marines, Swinburne is now in command of British warship HMS Perseverance.

After his son dies in a German submarine attack, Swinburne embarks on a mission of revenge against those responsible, and begins a cat-and-mouse chase with Ehrenberg around the

South Atlantic.

But what does Swinburne’s desire for merciless revenge mean for his marriage to grieving wife Daisy (After Life’s Jo Hartley)?

OUTCASTS

Meanwhile, Gestapo officer Hagen Forster (Tom Wlaschiha) meets a shadowy figure from his past – former German U-boat commander Klaus Hoffmann (Rick Okon), who is caught up in a huge conspiracy. Hoffman is a much changed man after his shattering experiences in the previous two series, when he was betrayed by his crew and left for dead in the middle of the ocean, only to be rescued from an American beach.

Could this unlikely duo join forces to do real damage to the Third Reich – and possibly change the course of the war?
