Cv so far: Glasgow-born laura, 40, has a career spanning two decades, with film and tv credits both here and in the us. last year she impressed us with roles in BBC1 thrillers The Missing as sergeant eve stone, and One of Us playing detective Juliet.

Plans for summer: playing detective annie redford, who embarks on her first murder case in itv’s six-part thriller The Loch, set near scotland’s loch ness.
