Jane Austen’s Emma inspired this teen comedy with a super turn from Alicia Silverstone as Cher, an airheaded, snobby, Californian rich girl who’s the envy of her set. But when busybody Cher decides to take the love lives of her friends in hand, the results are predictably disastrous. The clever satire works well and there’s some delicious dialogue. Edited.
