Bethany attacks
The troubled lap dancer lashes out when she has a flashback about Nathan
Bethany’s back working at the lap-dancing club this week, but the old Tassels – where you could be fully clothed, and your mum and nan could have a nice time on the Lambrini – is no more.
There’s a new manager, and this one thinks it’s OK to have sleazeballs putting their hands all over you. It’s all too much for Bethany, who has a flashback to her abuser, Nathan, and attacks one of the punters. Earlier in the week, Bethany’s at the salon, having agreed to do her apprenticeship. But after a run-in with a customer, she ditches the scissors and heads for the door.
‘She has a go at an older male customer who pays her a compliment,’ says Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany. ‘She asks if he’d have said that if she were a male hairdresser. Then she hears Audrey, David and Craig talking about her, and she’s furious.’
Having heard that Tassels is under new ownership, Bethany goes for an audition, and is soon back on the payroll. But it’s all change. The ‘uniform’ is now a bikini – which
Bethany refuses to wear – and the no-touching policy has gone.
‘The new owner makes her dance for a stag party,’ adds Lucy. ‘They are trying to grab her, and no one tells them to stop.
‘The stag starts getting really in her face, and she has a panic attack and flashback to when she was with Nathan. All she can see is him.
‘She picks up a glass bottle, smashes it on the table, then glasses him with it.
The next thing, he’s bleeding everywhere and the police have been called.’
Bethany is arrested and charged with GBH, and when she confides in Sarah that she fears she had a psychotic episode, her mum suggests she has more counselling.
But will Bethany’s next stop be a young offender institution?
She picks up a glass bottle, smashes it on the table, then glasses
him with it!
