Martin meets up with Hayley – but what is her game?

Martin thinks he’s found himself quite the fan in mysterious Hayley, and as she continues to flutter her eyelashes at him this week, he can’t resist spending time with her. But there’s clearly something a bit fishy about this Walford newcomer – when she first arrived in the Square three weeks ago, she was secretly spying on the Fowler family, and made more than a few disparaging remarks about the fruit and veg peddler, before she reported back to a mystery person on the phone. Could it be that she’s not desperate to date him, but is in fact planning his downfall? Martin, of course, is now single and free to mingle, following his and Stacey’s split. The once loved-up couple have decided to sort fings out amicably, without the need for legal action – or at least that’s what Stacey believes. She’s not so sure when she receives a letter from Martin’s solicitor. He says it was sent in error, but is he telling the truth?

With a reunion looking less likely by the day, Martin decides to get to know Hayley better. He doesn’t seem to want to take things slowly, judging by the fact that when they meet up, he takes baby Hope and little ‘Arfur’ with him. Stacey warns her estranged husband that he must bring the children home at the agreed time. But, swayed by Hayley’s influence, he keeps them out for longer, and ignores Stacey’s messages and calls.

It’s a decision that backfires on him, massively – but was that Hayley’s plan all along? We can’t help thinking that she’s part of Stacey’s secret mission to get custody of the kids. In fact, didn’t show boss John Yorke say there was a new Slater coming to the Square? Just a thought…
