in The Vic...

Yes, you read that correctly – faaarmly man and all-round good egg Mick Carter hires a hitman to get shot of Aidan Maguire. And to think this is the same man who got married in his wife’s pink dressing gown.

But Mick is despwate. Aidan’s convinced that he stole his money and won’t rest until he’s got it back.

At the start of the week, Mick hopes Jack will be able to help him, and asks his mate if he knows anything about Aidan from his days as a copper. When that’s a non-starter, he turns to Mel, having heard from Billy that she and Aidan know one another.

Mel initially refuses to get involved but eventually hands Mick the phone number of a hitman.

‘Mick insists he’s not that kind of person,’ reveals our Eastenders insider, ‘but then he discovers petrol has been poured in The Vic, and there’s a note from Aidan, demanding the money by Thursday. With the stakes raised, he starts to reconsider.’

But when Mick goes to dig out dial-a-hitman’s number, he can’t find it. As he searches, he has to admit to Linda what’s going on, and he realises that it’s not the way to go.

Needing a plan B, he approaches Phil, who advises he scarper from the Square. But instead Mick suggests to Vincent that they join forces to send Aidan packing. Aidan spots the pair and asks Vincent what they were discussing. Will Vincent drop Mick in the mire?

Linda later finds the number and when she learns they’ve been threatened, she insists they take Aidan out. But then she has second thoughts and says they must leave.

The Carters pack their bags but as they’re at the Tube station, Mick says he needs to nip home as he’s forgotten his wallet. It’s a ruse and, over at The Vic, he waits for Aidan.

The two men square up – but who will come out on top?
