I know what you did…

Josh brazens it out and tells David their sex was consensual David confronts Josh about the attack, but he plays the innocent…

David’s groggy and confused when he wakes up in Josh’s bed. As he takes in his surroundings and pieces together the few memories he has of their night out, the terrible truth dawns on him – his ‘friend’ has raped him.

The crimper is in turmoil and dashes back home, where he desperately tries to clean himself, and dumps his clothes in the dustbin. He’s horrified when he goes back inside to see Josh nonchalantly chatting to Gail.

‘Josh has no shame at all; he even brings David a protein shake,’ reveals Jack P Shepherd, who plays the traumatised hairdresser.

‘David tells him he knows what he did, but he says it very quietly, because he doesn’t want Gail, who’s upstairs, to hear. Josh realises David hasn’t told anyone, which of course gives him the power. ‘Josh is a bit rattled, but brazens it out and tells David their sex was consensual. He implies that David is gay, and because David can’t remember exactly what happened, he starts to doubt himself.’

When Shona and David later head to the Rovers, David’s rocked to see Josh there.

And as the week goes on, David is struggling to cope. He’s distant with the family, and snaps when Sean discusses his love life.

In a bid to prove his manhood, he throws Shona against a wall for a passionate kiss. But when she reciprocates, he can’t bear to get intimate and feigns a cramp.

It all gets too much when

Josh turns up at the house with a birthday present for Sarah’s son, Harry. Repulsed, David heads off to visit his dad, Martin, in Liverpool.

‘He is ashamed, and just wants to pretend it didn’t happen,’ says Jack. ‘He feels there is no way he can tell Shona, his mum or sister.’

Martin’s busy packing, and as they chat about his move Down Under, David’s given food for thought. Returning to Weatherfield, he announces that he’s following his dad to New Zealand.

Shona and the Platts are dumbstruck. Will they discover the truth behind David’s decision?
