Steve comforts Abi when she has a terrible day with her twins… and they kiss!
Steve flippin’ Mcdonald is to successful relationships what Roy Cropper is to disco dancing. Having insisted that he absolutely, definitely loves Tracy, this week he finds himself locking lips with Abi. If his fiancée finds out, he should definitely steer clear of heavy ornaments for a while.
It’s an unexpected turn of events, because Abi had wanted to punch Steve’s lights out. She overhears him telling Beth that her kids would be better off in care, so vows revenge. First, she persuades Tracy to make her and Steve’s first dance the focal point of their wedding, knowing Steve will hate it. Then, she tells Trace that Steve was watching footy when he claimed to be at Amy’s concert and, for added measure, blabs that Steve has given her Karen’s old engagement ring.
But the pair bond after Abi has a disastrous visit from her twins. They have spent so much time away from her that she feels like a stranger, and they’re desperate to get back to their foster parents. Heartbroken, Abi goes AWOL and Steve finds her at the tram station, drunk. Seeing a bag of heroin fall out of her bag, he opens up about late son, Ruairi, and urges her to pull herself together. Tracy’s oblivious when she arrives and takes her new pal home. And, she inadvertently pushes the pair together when she asks Abi to help Steve buy her a new ring.
As Steve and Abi go shopping, Abi tells him their kiss meant nothing. But does she mean it?
