Lorraine Chase and Strictly pro Gleb Savchenko hit the farm

How will pampered celebs and Gleb Savchenko cope with mucking out cows and sheep on the farm?

Celebs on the Farm monday-friday / 5star / 10Pm

Gleb Savchenko will be swapping the glitz and glamour of ballroom for life on a muddy farm in a new reality series that sees celebrities head for the country.

The ex-strictly dancer, who wowed audiences when he partnered Countryfile host Anita Rani in 2015, is one of eight famous faces who will be spending 10 days looking after livestock in Sussex.

Luckily, one of his fellow celebrity farmers might be able to give him a few pointers…

Having starred in Emmerdale and Worzel Gummidge, muchloved actress Lorraine Chase knows a thing or two about country living, but will those rural shows prepare her for the real deal?

The pair will be joined by TOWIE star Bobby Norris, country singer Megan Mckenna, Dancing on Ice judge Louie Spence, Sandi Bogle from Gogglebox, Ex on the Beach star Charlotte Dawson (daughter of comedy legend Les) and British judo champion Ashley Mckenzie – yet many of them won’t make it to the end of the 10part series, which starts on Monday on Channel 5 and sister channel 5Star before continuing on 5Star.

Resident farmer Chris Jeffery will be evaluating their efforts and, from the fourth episode, we’ll be bidding farewell to the contender who’s impressed him the least.

We caught up with Gleb and Lorraine to find out more…

How have you been enjoying life on the farm, lorraine? lorraine: It’s just so relaxed! Louis is just extraordinary – he’s so sharp and funny and has a great energy. Megan’s the same and Sandi, who I share my camper van with. We named it Gertrude! Then there’s Ash the judo geezer and Gleb, who’s handsome and friendly!

what do you make of your fellow contestants Bobby and charlotte? lorraine: They’re extraordinary people! I’m in my late 60s now and modelling was my world, yet Bobby’s Essex world is a whole different lifestyle. I’ve never met people quite like them – they’re on a different wavelength!

why did you want to take part in the show, gleb? gleb: I’m from Russia and spent a lot of time in the countryside when I was little, but I’d never been on a farm before.

I now live in LA doing Dancing with the Stars, but hanging out with my friends and meeting new people is a lot of fun.

You and louie are both dancers, so did you show each other your moves in the farmyard? gleb: We haven’t talked about dancing much but Louie’s got a great personality and energy.

lorraine, you’ve been in Worzel Gummidge and emmerdale. You’re positively a farm expert! lorraine: Yes, I was rather hoping that this one wasn’t going to be fictional! What I’m enjoying is learning so much. I’ve learnt how to hold a chicken and how to hold on to an alpaca’s head gently. They don’t like their head or neck touched, so you have to scoop their head up into your shoulder so he can be examined. I’ve also learnt how to lift his paw pads to trim his nails!

Gleb, what do you miss most while you’re on the farm? gleb: My bed and shower! When I do a show in America my trailer is usually three times bigger – and I only use it to change my clothes. So when I got on the farm and saw I had to share my RV with someone I was like, ‘Dude, you’re kidding me!’
