Carla’s horrified when Peter takes a bullet from Simon’s nemesis, Tyler
Maybe if Peter Barlow’s going to win Carla’s heart, then he needs a dramatic event to shake her to her senses. Could getting shot in the chest do the trick? It looks that way when he takes a bullet from gangster Tyler. As Peter clutches his wound, Carla looks every inch the heartbroken girlfriend.
The bullet is meant for Simon, who earlier returns to Weatherfield following a break in
Cornwall with Ken. Si’s in a dark place, as he’s due in court for robbing Flora, and is set to testify against Tyler, who attacked the pensioner when she disturbed them. Someone should tell him that if he can cope with Ken’s intellectual rants for two months, he can cope with anything. As Simon dreads what’s to come, menacing Tyler sends him a threatening text. Peter is oblivious and is busy at Underworld, where Carla is hiring new machinists. The brunette uses the recruitment drive to find out if her ex hubby is still a rampant love rat. Noticing that one of the applicants is a dead ringer for his former lover, Tina Mcintyre, she asks him to conduct the interview to see if he’s changed. Will Peter pass the test? Meanwhile, things get worse for Si when he’s grabbed by two masked men in the street. Kate Connor pulls him to safety, and when he shows his dad the texts, Peter takes his son to work with him, to keep him safe.
He asks Carla to watch the lad when he has to nip out – she promises not to let him out of her sight. But when pregnant Sinead has a funny turn, she dashes off to find Daniel. Tyler and his mates watch her leave and bang on the factory doors, issuing more threats to a scared Si. As Peter and Carla then return, the gang approach in a car…
