Charity finds DI Bails with Ryan... Will the twisted cop poison her boy’s mind against her?
Charity Dingle has made several promises to long lost son Ryan that she’ll tell her family all about him – only to backtrack at the last minute. Fed up of false starts, this week she decides to finally bite the bullet.
But things rarely go right for the troubled blonde, and just as she’s gearing up to make the big announcement, she gets a call from Ryan’s adoptive mum, Irene. They’ve had a visitor over at their place – DI Bails.
The week starts well for mother and son, when Charity introduces Ryan to his half brother, Moses.
‘It’s a really touching moment,’ reveals James Moore, who plays Ryan. ‘He is so excited to have a little brother in his life and a bigger family to come into, because it has just been him and Irene.’
Charity admits to Vanessa that she has her reservations about introducing Ryan to everyone else, but she later texts him to say she’s going to do it. She decides Noah and Debbie should be the first to know, and summons them to dinner. But then Irene calls...
‘Charity shoots over there with Vanessa,’ explains Emma Atkins, who plays the Dingle. ‘She forgets all about Noah and Debbie, who are sat there waiting for her, having been told she has important news.’
At Irene’s place, Charity’s horrified to finds Bails talking to Ryan. The corrupt cop claims he just wants to get to know the lad, but Charity worries he’s going to poison Ryan’s mind against her and ruin her chance of getting justice for the abuse he put her through.
‘Charity knows what Bails has done,’ adds James, ‘but Ryan has only had people tell him about it, and because he’s on a quest to gain his independence, he wants to decide about Bails for himself.’
As a shaken Charity returns home, she realises she has stood up her kids. Will she tell them about Ryan, or do another U-turn?
