Judgment day
A verdict is reached in Sally’s fraud trial. Will the former mayor finally be free?
It’s D-day for Sally Metcalfe, who’s been stitched up by dastardly Duncan and wrongly charged with fraud. Will she be coming back to the cobbles a free woman? Or will she be sent back to the slammer to learn more about the ancient art of yoga?
With Duncan having previously lied that Sally was his lover and coerced him into conning the council, Sally finally has her say at the start of the week. Taking the stand, she insists she never had an affair and never stole any money.
Then it’s Gina’s turn to talk. Oh ‘eck. She has agreed to be a character witness for her sister, but she has met up with Duncan on the sly and fallen for his fibs, making her about as reliable as a chocolate fireguard.
‘You just never know what you are going to get with Gina,’ says Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally. ‘If Sally knew that Gina had seen Duncan, she might be a little more worried because he is a very clever man.
‘Also, because Gina has got feelings for Tim, making him believe the worst about Sally will work in her favour.’
As the prosecution sum up their case, they describe Sally as being morally corrupt and indisputably guilty. Paula contends that her client was duped by Duncan, but who will the jury believe?
Either way, Sally’s headed for heartbreak, because after hearing the evidence, Tim is convinced that his missus did cheat on him, after all.
With their relationship on the rocks, and Gina’s feelings for her brother-in-law stronger than ever, will Tim and Gina begin an affair?
