Back to Brenda?

Bob makes a move on his estranged wife. But how will Brenda react?

-

Conclusive proof here, if ever you needed it, that Bob Hope-less can’t last five minutes without a woman. Having left wife Brenda for Laurel, who then subsequently booted him out, he turns his attentions back to Brenda this week, and tries to kiss her.

Brenda, of course, is currently seeing Doug. He’s about as exciting as a wet weekend in Wigan, so when he earlier invites her to a gardening event, she’s grateful to be looking after Bob’s poorly twins, Cathy and Heath, as it gives her an excuse to dodge the date.

The twins’ ill health is a blessing for Bob, as it draws him back into the fold. He offers to cover for Brenda at the café so she can be at home, and suddenly he feels like it’s the old days again. He’s not the only one enjoying the set-up, as Brenda realises that Heath and Cathy are pining for a reunion, too.

‘Brenda’s disappointed for the twins,’ reveals actress Lesley Dunlop, who plays the café owner, ‘because she knows it’s not what she wants or can give.’

As he makes himself at home at Connelton, Bob’s thrilled when Brenda offers him a glass of wine. But he can’t resist pushing for more…

‘Brenda’s rather horrified, to be honest!’ adds Lesley. ‘She thought he’d understand she was being kind rather than flirty. She doesn’t want him back.’

Soon, Bob tries his luck elsewhere, charming some women at The Woolpack. When Doug sees him, he flips over Bob’s feckless behaviour and punches him. Will Bob finally decide it’s time to grow up? And will Brenda see dreary Doug in a new light?
