Sinead admits to Billy that she’s been swerving chemo – then gets devastating news about her friend Steff…

-

When Sinead was diagnosed with cervical cancer, she was determined not to have chemotherapy for the sake of her and Daniel’s unborn baby, and has since put her faith in alternative therapies. But as she continues to lie to her oblivious husband, her guilt gets too much, and she reveals all to Billy.

Daniel knows that his wife is taking homeopathic pills, and he has joined her in switching to a vegan diet – which must be tough when he’s serving all those steaks in the Bistro. But he thinks

Sinead’s doing it in addition to rather than instead of chemo.

As the knicker-stitcher continues to pull the wool over his eyes, she discovers that she’s been lied to as well, and that Ken has been funding her therapies by giving cash to Carla. But it’s quickly forgotten about when she has her 20-week scan, and she and Daniel find out the sex of baby Barlow.

Daniel’s the happiest man on the planet when he feels the baby kick, but Sinead panics when he later says that he wants to accompany her to her next chemo appointment. She snaps at him and then storms off. Bumping into Billy, she asks the vicar if they can pray together and, when he takes her up to his flat, she is overcome with guilt and winds up confessing that she hasn’t been attending the sessions.

Will Billy tell Daniel the truth?

Meanwhile, the possible ramifications of Sinead’s actions hit home when her cancer-stricken friend Steff – who inspired her to go down the alternative-therapy route – is rushed into hospital. As Sinead pays her a visit, she learns from Steff ’s husband that Steff has just days left to live. Will the tragic news prompt her to do a U-turn?
