Silent witness

Guilty Daz keeps quiet as Amelia fears she’ll be blamed for the hit-and-run

-

Last week’s hit-andrun is the talk of the village, with everyone wondering whodunit. As it takes someone with less backbone than a cream horn to leg it after ploughing into an innocent victim, fingers should be pointing straight at Daz Spencer. But the police have their eye on Amelia and the teens instead – and dodgy Daz is in no rush to put them straight.

Amelia, Leanna and Noah went joyriding in Daz’s car on the night of the accident. They’re certain they weren’t responsible for the poor villager’s plight, but Amelia’s terrified that she’ll end up taking the rap. Dan and Kerry reassure her the cops will sniff out the guilty culprit, leaving Daz secretly terrified – so he plots to do a flit.

With his bags packed and a flight ticket booked, Daz later makes his move. But just as he’s about to board a bus out of Emmerdale, he spots Kerry collapsed in the road. It’s decision time. Will he continue with his not-so-great escape, or stay put and help her?

The ex-soldier’s conscience finally kicks in and he rushes to Kerry’s aid. As Dan then takes Kerry to see the doctor, Daz makes another attempt to scarper – only this time he’s busted by Amelia, who asks him what he’s up to.

Caught out, Daz gives a flimsy excuse and stays put. But as PC Swirling and co continue their investigation, he’s left feeling trapped. Is it now just a matter of time before he’s charged?
