Cliff’s TV Times
From his 1950s breakthrough onwards, Sir Cliff has been a regular TV Times cover star. The highlights include…
In 1968, he made his TV drama debut in A Matter of Diamonds, as a young villain involved with a gang of crooks. ‘It’s a nice role to get one’s teeth into and nothing like me,’ he told us.
In 1988, in his 30th anniversary year, he told us how he had decided to put work before romance. ‘I was 19 and felt the choice was thrown at me that I either had my career or my girlfriend,’ he revealed. ‘I chose my career. I have not been disappointed.’ but in 1990, he opened up to us about his regrets at not becoming a dad. ‘I am sad not to have had a family of my own,’ he said. ‘In a perfect world, I would have liked to have a boy and a girl.’
