Rana finishes with Kate when her girlfriend gets frisky with Adam
Well, that engagement didn’t last long, did it? Just a month after Kate and Rana proposed to one another in the Rovers, their romance comes to a screeching halt, all thanks to Kate’s baby obsession.
Trouble’s been afoot ever since Kate mentioned the word ‘mother’ during their engagement drinks. Suddenly, all she could think about was getting up the duff. She’s had tunnel vision and failed to notice Rana’s numerous looks of horror, but when the couple have a row at the start of the week,
Rana makes her feelings clear – she doesn’t want a baby!
‘Kate feels a bit of a fool – if she hasn’t picked up on those signals from the closest person to her, then what does that say about their relationship?’ says Faye Brookes, who plays her. ‘She’s also hurt that Rana hasn’t said anything sooner.’
A chat about the way forward would be a wise course of action. But when Kate calls round to see Adam, to explain that her and Robert’s deal to have a child together has been scrapped, she gets a better idea. As Adam opens a bottle of whisky, Kate wonders if he could be her baby-daddy instead. Thank heavens she didn’t bump into Roy or Brian first.
‘She is drunk and she starts flirting with him,’ adds Faye. ‘He kisses her, and this idea enters her head that this may be the way for her to get a child.’
The pair end up stopping before they go all the way, but Imran catches sight of them getting frisky. He tells Alya, who reports back to Rana, who then confronts Kate and dumps her.
Are ‘Kana’ over for good?
