thriller ⊲ Richard Gere’s retired CIA agent reluctantly joins an FBI rookie (Topher Grace) in the hunt for a legendary Soviet assassin known as Cassius, who may have resurfaced and killed a US senator. This lacklustre thriller also stars Martin Sheen as the CIA chief. Despite its two big surprises, this is so poorly written and directed that it’s never tense.
