History’s Biggest Fibs, Lucy Worsley travels across the pond to reveal how the version of American history we accept as true often plays fast and loose with the facts. Lucy travels across the USA (and naturally gets to dress up in the process) to unpick how a country with such an immensely strong national identity – as Lucy says, it’s ‘incredibly well branded’ – has been created. This first episode is about the American Revolution, the war that gave the 13 colonies under British rule their independence, but only after the Americans got help from some European allies – the French!
